【Okinawa Village Time】Passing on Traditions ⑤ Life of Ms. Teruya
■ What is Okinawa Village Time? Okinawa Village Time is an experiential activity that allows you to discover the charm of everyday life rooted in the community by connecting with local partners (residents) who live in the Kushi area of Nago City, around Kanucha. ✨ Each local partner offers a variety of unique plans, allowing you to choose an experience that best suits your interests and lifestyle. 🌿 ■ Experience Theme: Passing on Traditions ■ Life of Ms. Teruya ~Raising children in nature, colored by Ryukyu indigo~ Ms. Teruya relocated to the Mihara district of Nago City, where she runs an indigo dye studio called “Ryukyu Indigo Namiai.” She grows Ryukyu indigo organically, without the use of pesticides, and is involved in every step of the process—from cultivating the plants to creating the dye and hand-dyeing the textiles. Her daily life, spent caring for indigo plants while raising her young child, reflects a rich way of living where nature’s gifts and human craftsmanship exist in harmony. In this experience, you will visit the indigo fields surrounded by the beautiful natural environment of Mihara, as well as her riverside dye studio, and enjoy seasonal workshops inspired by the rhythms of nature. ■ Plan Details 1.Introduction to the Ryukyu indigo fields cultivated in the natural surroundings of Mihara 2.Visit to the riverside workshop and introduction to the indigo-dyeing process 3.Indigo dyeing or tataki-zome (plant hammer-dyeing) workshop (Workshop content varies depending on the season) ■ Reservation Flow Request Reservation → Experience Plan Adjustment → Plan Confirmation Please note: As this experience is based on the daily lives of local residents, we may suggest an alternative plan if we are unable to accommodate your request.
